gases are used.

economical and reliable. Lubricated and Non-Lubricated
operation is used.
Alternatives can be:
Electric motors
• Drawback of hazardous duty environment
• More expensive to speed control
 
Considerations: Need supply of compressed air. Ask
about lubricated or non-lubricated preference for the air
supply.
